Airliner Experience is pleased to announce permission has been obtained for a Ramp Tour of the Cargo Village at East Midlands Airport (EMA). This exclusive group visit will permit access to the live ramp to view cargo aircraft movements during busy evening operations.
This exciting tour will take place on two dates, Wednesday 5th of July & Wednesday 12th of July 2023 with visits to several vantage points within the Cargo Village to observe aircraft movements and as a ‘spotting’ opportunity. Transportation while airside will be by Airport Operations Vehicle.
East Midlands Airport is home to the UK’s largest dedicated Air Cargo Operation, making it the country’s most important airport for express freight. Handling over 440,000 tonnes of goods each year, EMA is a hub for DHL, UPS, FedEx & Royal Mail. On average, 2,350 cargo aircraft movements per month occur at EMA, the highest number of any UK airport by a significant margin. To put into perspective, this is more than all London airports combined! London Stansted would be 2nd at approximately 850 cargo aircraft movements per month.

The Main Event is from 7.30pm till 10.00pm. The group will be escorted air-side using Airport Operations Vehicle to travel to our viewing location.
Prior to our evening rendezvous at East Midlands, our intention is to visit Airspeed Aviation Ltd. at Derby Airfield which is the largest maintenance facility for light aircraft in the UK Midlands. Vintage Flying are also based here, with the companies Tiger Moth bi-plane. Our tour will also take us to Marcia Marina - Derbyshire, Europe’s largest inland Marina, with accommodation for over 630 boats, set in the 24-acre Willington Lake on the Trent & Mersey Canal network.

Due to severely restricted numbers permitted on the ramp, it has been agreed to perform two Group Visits – Group A – Wednesday 5th of July & Group B – Wednesday 12th of July.
A rare opportunity to experience air-side operations at the UK’s busiest Cargo Village. The sights, the sounds, the atmosphere as freighters from around the world congregate at this bustling UK hub, from dinky turboprop freighters to 777 cargo giants, aircraft from multiple manufacturers, both on the ground and in the air. A special evening of ultimate aircraft observation directly in the heart of operations!
